How brutal was the 2018 King of Hammers UTV race? 12 of 120 starting racers crossed the finish line under the time limit. All the Top 9 and the 11th finisher had 1 thing in common at yesterday’s KOH, all the top 9 RZR’s, YXZ’s and X3’s protected their machines against the brutal rock infested course with Factory UTV UHMW Armor. 17 of the Top 20 racers who crossed the finish line also protected their UTV’s with Factory UTV Armor. Huge congratulations to the new KING Mitch Guthrie Jr. Mitch piloted his Polaris RZR XP to a near perfect run and the win. Branden Sims came in with another 2nd place finish, his 3rd or 4th runner up at Hammers. Mitch Guthrie Sr rounded out the podium. Although the 6 time champ is used to a better finish at Hammers, his tears of pride and joy on the podium over his sons accomplishment appeared to me as good as a win for Miitch Sr.. Casey Currie in his Can Am X3 turned in a solid 4th place finish. Cj Greaves took his Yamaha YXZ 1000 R clad in Factory UTV armor to 5th place in his first KOH race. Marc Burnett – MB Motorsports Offroad Racing also in his 1st KOH race came through the pack for an impressive 6th place. Johnny Greaves took his YXZ, also entered in his first KOH finished a very respectable 7th place. Johnny also took the Pole position in Qualifying. Johnny had one of my all time favorite quotes during his podium interview “Factory UTV plastics, I can’t even believe there is a floor underneath this anymore, that is the toughest sh!t I’ve ever seen”. Phil Blurton took his Can-Am Off-Road X3RC to an 8th place finish. It was also a maiden voyage for Phil at #koh2018. Out of the 44th qualifying spot Kyle Anderson took his Yamaha Racing, Weller Racing backed YXZ to an amazing run through the pack to a 9th place finish! Jacob Versey put in a stellar ride to nail down the 11th spot and official finisher in his RZR XP! Congratulations to all the competitors and #futvarmy racers on tackling the toughest 1 day UTV racing event on the planet! #koh2018 #bestutvarmorontheplanet #ultra4racing #norcalrockracing
